Lavar Ball Blames UCLA Loss on White Players With Slow Feet

(Los Angeles Daily News) Lonzo Ball pulled his hamstring during UCLA’s season-ending loss to Kentucky in the Sweet 16, his father LaVar Ball revealed Thursday, adding it prevented him from taking over for teammates that lacked the athleticism required to win a national championship.

“Realistically you can’t win no championship with three white guys because the foot speed is too slow,” LaVar Ball said. “I told Lonzo – ‘One of these games you might need to go for 30 or 40 points.’ It turned out the that was the one game. Then once they get to the Elite 8, they’re right there.”

Interesting take by LaVar here. As a white person it’s easy for me too be offended by the possible reverse racism present. The public reaction to this statement seems to be pretty negative, but I can’t even imagine what the reaction would be if Przemek Karnowski’s dad blamed the Gonzaga loss on his black teammates being loud in movie theaters or something.

On the other side other spectrum however, as a white man who is not very good at basketball, I can’t really relate to Ball’s situation. I can only imagine what it’s like dribbling up the court as a black man (with a pulled hammy no less) and seeing a bunch of unathletic white boys to pass to. Sort of a check your privilege situation.

Also, as a somebody who married a white woman, you’d think LaVar would show more gratitude to the fact that his sons took all his genes. You can only hate on white people so much if you’re plowing one every night.

At the end of the day, this doesn’t really change my opinion on LaVar much, he’s still a lunatic who’s soon gonna be way more rich than he deserves. He’ll probably make some wild investment with his son’s money and lose it all. Then those white UCLA boys who got their college degrees will be the ones laughing.
